What our clients say…
During her visits, Donna utilized various training techniques and brain games for our rambunctious girl, providing her with different challenges and training outlets. Pictured here, Donna is training Rosie to carry an Easter Basket.
So grateful to have found Donna who taught so much about new puppy training!
Each session felt incredibly positive, personalized, and thorough, and whenever we take Leo out for walks, everyone says how well-behaved he is or asks us who we used to help train him.
We couldn't be happier that we reached out to Donna for help with training our new puppy. She is incredibly knowledgeable and provided us with the instruction we needed to get our pup, Kat, on the right track to becoming a great, well-behaved family pet. She does an excellent job of tailoring each training session to your dog's individual needs. The instruction cards she provides are invaluable in helping to remember the commands and/or steps practiced in each session. Donna is always open to answering questions and is happy to recommend her favourite treats, products, etc. at our request. Kat has made great progress in only a few training sessions with Donna. She is able to follow different commands and has learned to confidently socialize with other dogs thanks to the opportunities provided by Donna as part of her services (i.e. organizing play sessions with other dogs at private off-leash parks). She provides excellent feedback and is genuinely invested in helping you to achieve whatever goals you might have for your pet. We will be continuing to reach out to Donna for training, socializing opportunities and advice as she consistently goes above and beyond for her clients ...and, of course, Kat has grown to love her!

Donna is a pleasure to work with, and thanks to her our bond with Ollie has strengthened, our
home has become a more harmonious place, and Ollie is becoming a lovely family dog. I would
highly recommend Donna to anyone looking for a dog trainer/behaviourist. Her knowledge of
animal behaviour on top of her animal training expertise takes Donna’s skills to the next level.
Donna truly exceeded our expectations, and we are grateful for her positive impact on our lives.
We began working with Donna a few months ago and have already seen such great progress with our pup, Griswold. He is a very fearful guy with some reactivity issues, and after having little success with some other trainers we reached out to Donna. She always goes above and beyond to ensure that Griswold is getting the best and most effective training possible, and her personalized, consistent approach has really helped him to build confidence and tackle his reactivity. Donna's commitment to what she does is amazing, and she really goes above and beyond to ensure that we feel supported throughout this training journey!
We have recently had some challenges with Doja as she gets older and is quite specific on who she likes and does not like, and Donna has taken the time to research and help us with the best approach to overcome this phase, and the results are starting to show. It goes without saying that I would highly recommend Donna for all your training needs!
Due to Donna’s training and gentle hands on approach, our boy North is a happy, healthy, well-adjusted dog. He still enjoys his twice weekly walks with Donna, and knows when she is scheduled to come walk North. As long as Donna is able we will continue to welcome her knowledge, expertise and kindness for as long as North is part of our family. SHE CHANGED HIS LIFE!!!!
I wholeheartedly recommend Donna Barrett and the positive reinforcement training methods she has taught us. We have had dogs for many years but while we knew a lot, we knew we needed help with a puppy we adopted in December of 2020. Ruby was an 8 month female Red Heeler X and it quickly became clear that she had been living feral although she had been fed and was in reasonably good physical health. She displayed both fearful and reactive behaviour.
I remember the day I reached out to Donna, I was not sure she would respond after I wrote in my subject line, “Jack the Nipper”. But she did! From the moment Jack, myself and my husband met Donna we knew she was our angel and would lead Jack in the right direction. COVID but a damper on some of the training she normally does. Having said that, she gave us the tools tips and tricks that helped Jack settle down and be the wonderful puppy he is today.
We have a standard poodle (with her full tail). Even at the age of 6 months, Maggie was very headstrong ....... after all, she is still a very young pup. Some of the problems were nipping, biting, and jumping up on people and objects. When taking her for walks she was always pulling on the leash. The good news is that with Donna's training, these bad habits are disappearing. Donna has taught us to be consistent with our commands
